### Meaning

1. To shake or move something with small quick jerks.
2. To bounce up and down gently, like a car on a bumpy road.
3. A joggle is a small shake or jolt.

### In the lessons

An old-fashioned, cosy word in stories: a cart joggles along a country lane, as in The Wind in the Willows, where the caravan rolls along the lanes. In everyday talk «jiggle» or «jog» is more common. In maths and science it is not used.

### Examples

- The pony cart joggled along the stony lane.
- Don't joggle the table while I'm writing.
- The baby laughed as Dad joggled her on his knee.
- The jelly joggled on the plate.
- The caravan gave a joggle as it went over a root.
- Her bag joggled against her side as she ran.

### Note

Do not confuse with «juggle» (to keep throwing and catching things). Past: joggled; -ing form: joggling (drop the e). «Joggling» is also a sport: juggling while jogging.
