### Meaning

1. (euphemism, humorous) a lunch break spent drinking alcohol instead of eating food.
2. (literal, rare) a lunch of soup, smoothies or drinks.

### In the lessons

Used jokingly about office workers, journalists or sports fans drinking at lunchtime. Register: humorous, everyday; mainly UK, Ireland, Australia.
