### In the lessons

In maths it is an amount measured in litres or millilitres, poured, filled or shared. In science a liquid takes the shape of its container but keeps its volume; ice melts into liquid water, and liquid water boils into steam (a gas). In safety: some liquids are poisons, so never drink from an unmarked bottle; airports limit liquids in hand luggage.

Countable for kinds (different liquids), uncountable for an amount (some liquid). States of matter: solid, liquid, gas. Myth: glass is not a slow liquid; it is a solid. Maths: measured, not counted: litres and millilitres. Trap: change units before adding (1 L = 1000 ml).
