## In Jewish tradition

It means to hate or be disgusted by. It is often used for people turning away from God or from each other.

**Interpretation.** Ezekiel uses it for Jerusalem's ancestors and her loathing of husband and children. Tradition reads it as the nation's disgust at what is holy and its turning from God.
