### Note

Regular verb: lured. «Lure» always suggests a trap or a tempting offer. Do not confuse with «allure» (charm) or «lore» (old knowledge and stories). If something seems too good to be true, it may be a lure.

## In Jewish tradition

It means bait used to trap a bird. Amos asks if a bird falls into a trap with no bait.

**Interpretation.** Amos's questions teach that nothing happens without a cause. Tradition reads them as saying that disaster comes from Israel's own deeds.
