### In the lessons

Mostly a clipped word in everyday talk: «a comic mag», «a gaming mag», «a football mag». In older Australian and British speech, «to mag» is to chat a lot. In science notes, «Mg» is the symbol for magnesium; «mag» may be written as a shorthand. It tells the reader the speaker is casual.

## In Jewish tradition

Here it is part of the Babylonian title Rab-mag, a chief official. It is not the magazine.

**Interpretation.** The title probably means a chief of the priests or magicians. Tradition mentions it among Nebuchadnezzar's officers when Jerusalem fell.
