### Note

Making new things adds to the count; «makes N rows of M» is equal groups: multiply. «A and B make C» means A + B = C; «yield» and «constitute» in an exam say the same. Past «made». «make a mistake», not «do a mistake». «Make me!» is a rude refusal, not a request. «make do with 2» means manage with only 2: the number is 2.

## In Jewish tradition

It often means to create, build or fashion, as when God makes the world or Israel makes the tabernacle and its objects as God commands. "Make atonement" means to set things right with God.

**Interpretation.** Tradition notes that the Torah says God "made" and "created", and reads the work of making the tabernacle as a pattern of human partnership with God.
