### In the lessons

In science and nature lessons, mambas are examples of dangerous venomous snakes; the black mamba is one of the fastest snakes on land. Its name comes from its black mouth, not its skin colour. Safety: never approach or touch a wild snake; move away slowly.

### Note

Countable: one mamba, two mambas. A black mamba is called black because the inside of its mouth is black. Do not confuse with "mambo", a dance.
