### In the lessons

In geography lessons pupils do mapping of the school grounds. In maths a mapping diagram shows arrows from inputs to outputs (for example each number to its double). In everyday life apps use mapping to show routes. Phrases: mind mapping, mapping out (planning), map out a route.

### Note

«Mapping» comes from the verb «map» with a doubled p: map, mapped, mapping. In maths, a mapping that gives each input exactly one output is a function. «Map out» = plan carefully.
