### In the lessons

Everyday and safety: always use oven mitts (oven gloves) to take hot things out of the oven, because hot metal and steam can burn you. In winter children wear mitts to keep hands warm. In sports in the USA and Canada, a baseball mitt is used to catch. Phrases: «oven mitt», «baseball mitt», «keep your mitts off» (do not touch).

### Examples

### Note

Countable: «a mitt», «a pair of mitts». «Mitt» is short for «mitten»; both are fine. A glove has a separate finger for each finger; a mitt does not (but a baseball mitt is a special glove). Never use a wet mitt for hot pans: water carries heat fast and can burn you.
