### In the lessons

In online life and digital safety: only download game mods from trusted sites with an adult, as some carry viruses; report bad behaviour to a mod. In maths and coding: «mod» gives the remainder, used to check if a number is even (n mod 2 = 0). In history and music lessons, Mods and Rockers were rival groups of teenagers.

### Note

It is a short, informal word; the full forms are «modification», «moderator», «modern». In maths, «a mod b» is the remainder when a is divided by b: 14 mod 4 = 2 because 14 = 3 × 4 + 2. Verb forms double the «d»: modded, modding.
