«Each month», «a month», «per month» mark a rate: total = rate × number of months. 12 months = 1 year. Trap: months have 28 to 31 days, so do not use exactly 4 weeks unless the problem says so. Names of months start with a capital letter. «Monthly» means once a month.

## In Jewish tradition

The Torah counts months by the moon, and the first month is Abib (later called Nisan) in spring. A month began at the new moon.

**Interpretation.** Each new moon was marked with offerings, and the Jewish calendar still follows the moon. Nisan is called the first of the months because Israel left Egypt then.
