## Everyday

2. The morning is also the time from midnight to noon, as in «2 o'clock in the morning». [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/M/morning/#m2)

### Note

A time label, not a thing counted. The parts of the day are added for the whole day. Trap: «more in the morning than in the afternoon» is a difference. Morning ends at noon (12:00); a.m. times are morning. Do not confuse with «mourning» (being sad after a death).

## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah a day begins at the evening and goes through the morning. "Evening and morning" make one day. In the prophets and psalms, morning also stands for new hope, and "son of the morning" is a bright star-like title.

**Interpretation.** Because the day begins in the evening, Shabbat and festivals start at sundown. Tradition also sets a morning prayer, Shacharit, and a morning offering. Lamentations says God's kindness is new every morning, and tradition sings this in prayer.
