### In the lessons

In civics lessons in the UK and other parliamentary countries, «our local MP» is the person who represents your area; children can write to their MP. In music lessons «mp» on the score means play fairly softly. Phrases: local MP, write to your MP, become an MP.

### Note

Abbreviation: written in capitals (MP, plural MPs, no apostrophe). Say «an MP» because it starts with the sound «em». In music, mp is lower case and comes between p (soft) and mf (fairly loud).
