## In Jewish tradition

Here it means quiet, deep thought or meditation, and the psalmist hopes his thoughts will please God.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads this as a person's inner prayer. The psalmist hopes that even silent thoughts of the heart will be accepted by God.
