### Note

British spelling of neighbor (also used in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland). «Each neighbour» with an amount gives a rate: total = amount × neighbours. No operation clue by itself. «The neighbour's» = one neighbour; «the neighbours'» = more than one. Safety: a neighbour is not automatically a trusted adult; ask your family first.

## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah a neighbour is a fellow member of the community, and many laws protect his property and good name.

**Interpretation.** The commandment "love thy neighbour as thyself" is the central rule of the laws between people. Rabbi Akiva called it a great principle of the Torah.
