### In the lessons

In first aid, nosebleeds are common in children and usually not serious; they can happen from picking your nose, dry air, a knock, or a cold. What to do: sit down, lean forward (not back), pinch the soft part of your nose just below the bony part for about 10 minutes, and breathe through your mouth; spit out any blood. Tell an adult. Get help if it does not stop after about 20 minutes or after a bad bump to the head. Phrases: "have a nosebleed", "get a nosebleed", "stop a nosebleed".
