### Meaning

1. (euphemism, polite) not good enough; not finished; failing for now.
2. (literal) not yet arrived at a place.

### In the lessons

Teachers, coaches and managers say it to encourage while saying the work is not good enough, focusing on the future. Polite register, all English-speaking countries.

### Examples

- Your reading is improving but not quite there yet.
- The cake looks nice, but the middle's not quite there yet.
- «Are we there yet?» «Not quite there yet, kids.»
- The project is not quite there yet; we need two more weeks.

### Note

It sounds kind but it means the work does not pass now. Do not read it as «almost perfect». Plain words: not good enough, unfinished.
