In everyday life and stories, «out of nowhere» means suddenly, with no warning; «in the middle of nowhere» means far from anywhere. ### Note

One word. Don't use it with another «not»: say «I went nowhere» or «I didn't go anywhere», not «I didn't go nowhere» (a double negative, wrong in standard English). «Nowhere near» in maths means very far from that number.
