# null

adjective

«null» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

Here it describes a vow that a husband cancels so it has no power; "null and void" means completely cancelled.

**Interpretation.** The law of vows in Numbers 30 lets a father or husband cancel a vow only on the day he hears of it. If he stays silent, the vow stands, and if he cancels it late, he bears the guilt.

### Meaning

Having no legal force; cancelled, so that it counts for nothing. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/N/null/#m1)

### Examples

- But if he shall make them null and void after that he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity. (Torah NUM.30.15, JPS 1917) [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/N/null/#x1)
