### In the lessons

In food and health lessons, the «nutritional information» label on packets shows energy (calories or kilojoules), fat, sugar, salt, protein and fibre per 100 g or per serving. Pupils compare labels and read traffic-light colours (UK). Phrases: «nutritional value», «nutritional information», «nutritional needs», «nutritional label».

### Note

Adjective; formal word. Related: nutrition, nutrient, nutritious (= good for you: «a nutritious meal»). Trap: «nutritional» describes things about food value; «nutritious» means healthy. In maths on labels, «per 100 g» lets you compare foods fairly.
