## In Jewish tradition

The Song calls the beloved a park of pomegranates, and Solomon in Ecclesiastes made gardens and parks.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads the Song's garden as the love between God and Israel. Ecclesiastes says that such pleasures are empty without wisdom.
