# perversion

noun

«perversion» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

In Leviticus it names the forbidden act of a person lying with an animal, a confusion of the natural order. Jeremiah uses it for false, twisted speech against the LORD, spoken by the false prophet Hananiah.

**Interpretation.** The law counts it among the serious forbidden unions, and the tradition reads it as mixing what God kept separate. Hananiah's death is read as the punishment for false prophecy.
