### Meaning

1. (euphemism, official) a price rise; making things cost more.
2. (literal) any change of a price, up or down.

### In the lessons

Companies use it in letters and adverts to announce higher prices without saying «increase». Official and commercial register, all English-speaking countries.

### Examples

- Due to a price adjustment, tickets now cost 12 pounds.
- The letter about the «price adjustment» meant our bill went up.
- Price adjustments will take effect next month.
- The shop made a price adjustment and refunded me the difference.
- If a 10-dollar item gets a 20% price adjustment upward, it costs 12 dollars.
- Customers complained about the price adjustment.

### Note

Usually it means prices go up, but check: sometimes it means a refund. In maths: new price = old price ± change. Plain words: price rise.
