# proofread

verb (proofread, proofreads, proofread, proofreading)

«proofread» in the English dictionary: everyday and in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## Everyday

To read a piece of writing carefully to find and correct mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar before it is finished or printed. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/P/proofread/#m1)

### In the lessons

In English lessons pupils are told to proofread their work before handing it in: check capital letters, full stops, spelling and missing words. Proofreading is the last step of the writing process (plan, draft, revise, edit, proofread). Phrases: proofread your work, a proofreader, proofreading marks.

### Examples
