verb (realise, realises, realised, realising — British spelling; realize in American spelling)

## Everyday

2. To realise a dream or plan means to make it come true. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/R/realise/#m2)

### In the lessons

In stories realising is often a turning point: «She realised she was lost». In maths: «I realised I had forgotten to carry the one». In everyday life we realise we forgot something. Phrases: realise that, suddenly realise, realise a dream, not realise.

British, Irish, Australian and New Zealand spelling: realise; American and Canadian: realize — both correct. Noun: realisation/realization. «Realise» is about knowing, not «do in real life» — but «realise a dream» does mean make it real.
