## In Jewish tradition

In Chronicles, David received men who came to him and made them captains. In Proverbs, a person receives the discipline of wisdom. In Job, the question is who received him at birth.

**Interpretation.** Receiving the discipline of wisdom is read by tradition as the goal of learning, which is taking in teaching and making it part of one's life.
