Safety: a red light or a red sign means stop or danger.

## In Jewish tradition

The Psalms recall the wonders God did at the Red Sea, where He divided the sea. In Zechariah, the first chariot has red horses, as part of a vision of God's messengers going through the earth.

**Interpretation.** Tradition sees the red-dyed skins as part of the Tabernacle's covering; the Red Sea is the sea Israel crossed on leaving Egypt. The Psalms' praise of the dividing of the sea is repeated in prayer.
