### In the lessons

In history and citizenship lessons laws are repealed by a parliament or congress, for example laws that were unfair. In news it tells the reader a rule has been cancelled. Phrases: «repeal a law», «the repeal of».

### Note

Regular verb: repealed. Mostly about laws, not school rules (you «scrap» or «change» those). Not the same as «appeal» (asking for a decision to be changed) or «repel» (push away).
