### In the lessons

In maths problems residents are the people counted in a town or a block of flats: "a town has 4,500 residents". In everyday life signs say "residents only" for parking. In science an animal that lives in one area all year is a resident, not a visitor. Phrases: local residents, residents only, permanent resident, resident of.
