## In Jewish tradition

Here it is a fragment of the word "reverse." It refers to a code in which the alphabet is turned backwards.

**Interpretation.** Jewish writers used letter-swapping codes, such as switching the first letter with the last, to find hidden meanings in holy names.

### Examples

- 7:1 Thus for instance, they imagined that the name of Jehovah, יהוי, is by reversing the alphabet; מצפץ (mzpz); mem signifies the letter jod, zaddi, the letter he, and pe, the letter wav.
