### Note

Use «risen» after has/have/had: «it has risen» (not «it has rose»). Past simple is «rose». Do not confuse with «raised» (raise, raised — something lifts something else). In maths, «risen by» means the difference (add it on); «risen to» means the new total.

## In Jewish tradition

Here it describes the sun having come up in the morning.

**Interpretation.** Tradition links the sunrise to the start of the day's duties and to the times for morning prayer and laws about the thief.
