## In Jewish tradition

Used for the outermost covering of the Tabernacle tent. The Hebrew word is tachash, and the translators were unsure what animal it meant.

**Interpretation.** Tradition debates what the tachash was. Some sages say it was a special colourful animal that existed only for the building of the Tabernacle, while others think it was a kind of skin or leather.
