### Meaning

(humorous, euphemism) a moment of forgetting something or getting muddled, jokingly blamed on getting old.

### In the lessons

Used jokingly, often by older people about themselves, to laugh off forgetfulness; humorous, all regions. Said about a young person it is a tease.

### Examples

- Grandpa put the milk in the oven: "Sorry, senior moment!"
- I had a senior moment and forgot my own phone number.
- Mum called me by the dog's name and blamed it on a senior moment.
- "Senior moment," laughed Nan, searching for the glasses on her head.
- Even the teacher had a senior moment and forgot our names.
- He's only thirty, but he has senior moments all the time.

### Note

It is a joke; it does not mean a real illness. Can sound unkind if said about someone with real memory loss (dementia).
