## In Jewish tradition

In the Tanakh the sixteenth is the place in a list, such as the sixteenth group of priests (to Immer) and of singers (to Hananiah), set up by King David for the Temple service.

**Interpretation.** In the Kabbalistic list of the Thirty-Two Paths of Wisdom, the Sixteenth Path is called the Triumphal or Eternal Intelligence, and it is linked with the Paradise prepared for the righteous. The tradition reads the priestly and Levite lists as the order of Temple service.
