### In the lessons

In feelings and safety lessons, slapping someone is hurting them and is never OK; use words and get help from an adult. In stories, a slap shows anger or shock. In sport, a "high five" is a friendly hand slap. Phrases: slap on the back, slap your knee, slap on (put on quickly), slap in the face.

### Note

Regular verb, double p: slapped, slapping. "A slap in the face" can mean an insult. "Slap on the wrist" means a very small punishment. Rule: hitting, including slapping, is not allowed; tell an adult if someone hits you.
