## In Jewish tradition

Sullen describes a king's gloomy, heavy mood, displeased and unwilling to eat.

**Interpretation.** Ahab's sullen mood is read as a sign of a troubled heart. The commentators see it as the sulking of one who cannot accept a rebuke.
