### In the lessons

On Friday nights many families get a takeaway: fish and chips, pizza, curry or Chinese. In maths younger pupils say "take away" for minus (two words). In meetings adults ask "What's the key takeaway?" meaning the main point. Phrases: get a takeaway, order a takeaway, the Chinese takeaway, the key takeaway.

### Examples

### Note

One word for the food or shop (takeaway); two words for the maths action (take away). "Take away" in a word problem tells you to subtract: 12 take away 5 = 7. US/Canada: takeout. Countable: a takeaway, two takeaways.
