### In the lessons

In everyday life a family rents a home under a tenancy agreement with a landlord. In maths problems a tenancy is rent per month × number of months. In formal language, «the tenancy ends» means the renting time ends.

### Note

The person who rents: tenant; the owner: landlord or landlady. Plural: tenancies (y → ies). Lease and tenancy are close; a lease is often for longer.
