### Meaning

1. (euphemism, humorous) the women's or girls' toilet.
2. (literal, rare) a bedroom for small girls.

### In the lessons

A coy, cute, jokey way for women (and sometimes girls) to say they are going to the toilet, avoiding the word «toilet»; used in all English-speaking countries, at parties, restaurants and in sitcoms.

### Examples

- (restaurant) Excuse me, I'm just going to the little girls' room.
- (chat) back in 2, little girls room
- (party) The bride ran to the little girls' room to fix her make-up.
- (sitcom) "Where's Mum?" "Powdering her nose in the little girls' room."
- (shopping) Wait by the shoes, I need the little girls' room.
- (literal) The little girls' room was painted yellow.
- (gossip) They were whispering in the little girls' room.

### Note

Trap: a grown woman saying it is joking; it does not mean the toilet is small or only for children. Apostrophe after s: girls'. Men's version: «the little boys' room».
