## In Jewish tradition

The ram that Abraham found caught in a thicket took Isaac's place as the offering. The prophets and psalms also use thickets of trees for a forest that is cut down with axes, and a place where caravans lodge.

**Interpretation.** Tradition says this ram was prepared by God from the six days of creation, and its horn is the shofar blown on Rosh Hashanah. Isaiah's picture of the thickets of the forest cut down with iron is read as God bringing down the proud.

### Examples
