### In the lessons

Written 3rd. As a fraction: one third of a total means divide by 3. Trap: «a third were eaten» gives the eaten part; what is left is the other two thirds. Trap: 1/3 as a decimal does not end (0.333...).

## In Jewish tradition

The third day and the third row of the priest's breastplate stones are named. The third day of creation is when plants appeared.

**Interpretation.** On the third day God made dry land and plants, and the Torah says "it was good" twice on that day. Sinai was also reached on the third day of preparation.
