### In the lessons

In stories «thrilled» tells the reader a character is delighted, often about good news, a present or a surprise. In everyday talk «I'm thrilled» is a strong way of saying «I'm very pleased». Said with a flat voice, «Oh, I'm thrilled» can be sarcastic and mean the opposite. Phrases: «thrilled to bits» (UK), «thrilled with», «thrilled about», «thrilled to hear».

### Note

Use with «with» for a thing (thrilled with the gift), «about» or «at» for news, «to» + verb (thrilled to see you). Stronger than «pleased» or «happy». Sarcasm trap: the tone of voice can turn it into its opposite.
