### In the lessons

In science lessons the tiger is the biggest cat, a carnivore and a top predator; it lives in forests and grasslands of Asia, not Africa. Tigers are endangered because of hunting and habitat loss, so pupils learn about conservation. Each tiger's stripes are unique, like fingerprints. Unlike most cats, tigers like water and swim well. In stories (The Jungle Book's Shere Khan, The Tiger Who Came to Tea) the tiger is powerful. Phrases: «paper tiger», «tiger mother», «Bengal tiger», «tiger moth», «tiger shark».
