### In the lessons

In lessons about truth, lies and tricks, telling the truth builds trust; it can be hard when you made a mistake, but hiding the truth often makes things worse. Some secrets should not be kept — tell the truth to a trusted adult if someone is hurting you. In science, we test ideas to find the truth, rather than believing what we are told. ## In Jewish tradition

God is proclaimed "abundant in goodness and truth" among His thirteen attributes of mercy.

**Interpretation.** Tradition teaches that truth is God's seal, and the thirteen attributes are recited on fast days and festivals to ask for mercy.
