## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah, an "undressed" vine is one left unpruned, which grows wild during the Sabbatical and Jubilee years.

**Interpretation.** Tradition holds that in the seventh and fiftieth year the land rests, and the unpruned vine reminds that the land belongs to God.

### Examples

- A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you; ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of the undressed vines. (Torah LEV.25.11, JPS 1917) [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/U/undress/#x1)
