### In the lessons

### Note

Countable: a unit, units; «a unit» (not «an unit»), because it starts with a «you» sound. Check units before adding: change all to the same unit first. «Per unit» marks a rate (price per unit × units). Trap: 2 m + 50 cm is 2.5 m, not 52.

## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah, the word is just the English "united," meaning joined; Jacob asks that his glory not be joined to the assembly of Simeon and Levi. In Sefer Yetzirah, the "Uniting Intelligence" is one of the paths of wisdom.

**Interpretation.** Jacob's words in Genesis 49:6 are read as a curse on the violent anger of Simeon and Levi. In the Kabbalah, the "paths" of the Sefirot are ways that God's power joins the world together.

### Examples

- Let my soul not come into their council; unto their assembly let my glory not be united; for in their anger they slew men, and in their self-will they houghed oxen. (Torah GEN.49.6, JPS 1917) [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/U/unit/#x1)

- The Thirteenth Path is named the Uniting Intelligence and is so called because it is itself the essence of Glory. (Sefer Yetzirah, Westcott 1887) [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/U/unit/#x3)

### Note
