# unpointed

adjective

«unpointed» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

Ancient Hebrew was written with only consonants. Later scribes added vowel marks ("points"), so an unpointed word can be read in more than one way.

**Interpretation.** Hebrew scholars note that unpointed words can have several readings. The same letters can then give different meanings, which is why the commentators study them closely.
