### In the lessons

In stories it shows people cheering, like «whooped with joy». In health lessons, whooping cough is a disease babies are vaccinated against. «Whoops» (with s) is a different little word said after a small mistake. Phrases: whoop with joy, whoop it up (party noisily).

### Note

The «wh» can be said «w» or «h»: «woop» or «hoop». «Whoops!» means oops and is a separate word. «Whoop-de-doo» is said sarcastically to mean «so what».
