## In Jewish tradition

Here it is an old form meaning "write." The prophet writes on sticks as a sign.

**Interpretation.** Ezekiel writes "Judah" on one stick and "Joseph" on another and joins them. Tradition reads this as a promise that the divided kingdoms will one day be reunited.
